Chinook is the culmination of over 75 years of paddling experience. Our founders are competitors in Outrigger and Dragonboating, with world experience at K-1 C-1, C-2 and OC-X meets in Europe, Asia and Hawaii. Our goal is to bring our customers the highest quality paddling equipment at the lowest price point. We do that by involving our athletes from the earliest stages of design and prototyping, through production and testing to create a truly robust and application-appropriate final product. We can afford to take time and care in manufacturing and each piece from the workshop is inspected and tested by paddlers themselves. The company principals come from backgrounds in marathon, flatwater, dragonboat and outrigger canoe racing and all have successful records at various levels of international and domestic competition. The new Chinook Sundowner is an upper level DB racing paddle, incorporating the best we know (so far) about construction, design and raw materials management. We have been hand crafting Chinooks in small batches, under careful company supervision, for 6 years now at the same factory in China (they have come a long way too!) under the same name all over the world, and the result of this investment in know-how, in supplier relationship management, and in incremental process and product improvement is a solid no-nonsense paddle which has all the performance features of some of the most expensive carbon paddles on the market.
